community artist & leader
CARLOS
VALENZUELA
ANNOUNCED
AS MOSAIC
ARTIST
FOR
MSHB SCULPTURE

Tucson community artist, leader, and educator Carlos Valenzuela has agreed to be the mosaic artist for the Most Sacred Heart of the Barrio sculpture. Carlos, a Mexican and Indigenous Tucsonan has worked on numerous mosaic murals in south Tucson. Many of these murals were made in collaboration with students in the Las Artes program, a program which helped young people prepare for GEDs through participation in community art projects.

We are elated to have this talented and integral community leader collaborate on this project.

Find Carlos and his work here.
